How to Calculate Labor Cost Percentage

Formula used:

Labor Cost (%) = (Total Labor Cost ÷ Total Sales) × 100

Example 1:

Find the labor cost percentage for:

  • Total Labor Cost = $15,000
  • Total Sales = $60,000

Apply the values in the formula:

= (15,000 ÷ 60,000) × 100

= 0.25 × 100

= 25%

Example 2:

Find the MoM growth for:

  • Total Labor Cost = $8,000
  • Total Revenue = $46,500

= (8,000 ÷ 46,500) × 100

= 0.172 × 100

= 17.2%
