The tip calculator is designed to calculate tips, total cost, and per-person amounts, given the price and tip percentage.
The following formulas are used:
Tip Amount = Price × (Tip Percentage ÷ 100)
Total Amount = Price + Tip Amount
Tip Per Person = Tip Amount ÷ Number of People
Total Per Person = Total Amount ÷ Number of People
Find the tip amount and total for:
Apply the values in the formula:
= 170 × (15 ÷ 100)
= 170 × 0.15
Tip = $25.5
Total = $170 + $25.5 = $195.5
Work out the tip for:
= 80 × (20 ÷ 100)
= 80 × 0.20
Tip = $16
Total = $80 + $16 = $96
Tip Per Person = $16 ÷ 2 = $8
Total Per Person = $96 ÷ 2 = $48
Work out the tip for:
= 300 × (18 ÷ 100)
= 300 × 0.18
Tip = $54
Total = $300 + $54 = $354
Tip Per Person = $54 ÷ 3 = $18
Total Per Person = $354 ÷ 3 = $118
