How to Calculate Time Percentage

The following formula is used:

Time Percentage = [Time A(sec) ÷ Time B(sec)] × 100

Example 1:

Find the time (%) for:

  • Time A: 120 days, 15 hours, 46 minutes, 30 seconds
  • Time B: 57 days, 8 hours, 23 minutes, 50 seconds

First, convert the time into seconds:

Time A = (120 × 86,400) + (15 × 3600) + (46 × 60) + 30 = 10424790 seconds

Time B = (57 × 86,400) + (8 × 3600) + (23 × 60) + 50 = 4955030 seconds

Apply the time values in the formula:

= (10424790 ÷ 4955030) × 100

= 210.388%

Example 2:

Calculate the time (%) for:

  • Time A: 89 hours, 34 minutes, 12 seconds
  • Time B: 97 hours, 27 minutes, 8 seconds

First, convert the time into seconds:

Time A = (89 × 3600) + (34 × 60) + 12 = 322452 seconds

Time B = (97 × 3600) + (27 × 60) + 8 = 350828 seconds

Apply the time values in the formula:

= (322452 ÷ 350828) × 100

= 91.912%
