How to Calculate Percentage Point & Difference

Formula used:

Percentage Point (pp) = Percent 2 - Percent 1

Percentage Difference (PD) = ((Percent 2 - Percent 1) ÷ Percent 1) × 100

Example 1:

Find the Percentage Point (pp) and Percentage Difference (PD) for:

  • Percent 1 = 75%
  • Percent 2 = 90%

Apply the values in the formula:

pp = 90 - 75 = 15

PD = ((90 - 75) ÷ 75) × 100 = 20%

Example 2:

  • Percent 1 = 14%
  • Percent 2 = 23%

pp = 23 - 14 = 9

PD = ((23 - 14) ÷ 14) × 100 = 64.29%
